Pōwhiri

At 10am on our first day of term, we hold a special pōwhiri to welcome new students and whānau to our school.

Upon arriving to Te Kura o Motueka, manuhiri are welcomed to gather around the waharoa (near our sensory garden). Our wonderful nanny will call you in with a karanga she will show you to your seat. Men sit in front.

Our koroua will speak and will greet you to settle with us - Whakatau mai rā. He will also give you the opportunity to speak if you wish.

Following the formalities of the pōhiri process, manuhiri will be invited to hariru - hongi while being entertained by our beautiful tamariki from Te Kura o Motueka, Allandale.

Manuhiri will then enjoy a snack and a hot drink to whakanoa - remove tapu.
