School Newsletter Week 7 Term 4

Kia ora e te whānau,

Always a busy time of the year for whānau and with school finishing for 2021 in around two weeks or so (Thursday 16th December at 12.00pm) we hope you are managing to find time for yourselves and your whānau with the Christmas and New Year Holidays just around the corner.

 COVID-19 Traffic Light System:

As I am sure you’re all well aware Whakatāne moves to COVID-19 Protection Framework (CPF) RED as of 11.59pm today - Thursday the 2nd of December (this will next be reviewed on the 13th of December).

There will be very few changes with what we are currently doing at Allandale School for the remainder of 2021 calendar year. We will however review this when the COVID-19 Protection Framework settings come into effect for all schools from the 1st of January, 2022.

Staff and students (Year 4 and above) of schools in red areas are being encouraged to wear masks.

We will have masks available for Year 4, 5 and 6 students (at the request of you / the whānau only) for the remainder of the year.  Staff will also be wearing masks when and where applicable (particularly indoors) as of tomorrow.

 TPOOM:

A big mihi to the team at TPOOM who were recently onsite to provide information and vaccinations for whānau.  Please note there has been a date change for their second visit.  The TPOOM team will now be returning for their second visit on 20/12/21.

 Senior Camp:

Thank you to everyone who was involved in our Senior Camp to Tui Ridge, Rotorua.  It was a massive 3 days for tamariki and the experience will no doubt be one that we will all look back on fondly in years to come.  Special mention to our BOT and ALL whānau for your support in making this happen and to Whaea Ashton and the Senior Team – thank you for all of your hard work.

 Property:

Our Air-Time Hoop has arrived and is proving very popular with the tamariki.

Matua Te Kei and Mr G will be at school next Friday the 10th of December to undertake touch ups to our school mural and to perform a small but special blessing.  Claire House and friends (with the help of a group of tech savvy tamariki) will also be here to capture the blessing and korero relating to our toka for everyone for 2022 onwards (Te-Toka-ā-Houmea, Pōhaturoa, Toka-tapu, Hine-tū-Ahoanga).

We will be holding 3 x End of Year Celebrations / Prizegiving in coming weeks.

These events will be held on the following days:

Juniors – 8 Dec

Middle – 9 Dec

Senior – 13 Dec

At this stage we will be livestreaming the events as best as we can for you all, otira, if anything changes this will be communicated with whānau early next week via team leaders.

Have a great day and rest of your week whānau.

Ngā manaakitanga

Matua Rikki

Library Books

A reminder, if you haven’t done so already, to please return your library books as soon as possible. Check down the back of the couch or behind the TV - those books can end up in the craziest places!

Overdue notices will be given out this week or next, telling you what you have out and the replacement cost if it is lost. Payment for lost books is to be made at the school office please.
